Roughly translated?

“You should enter the cornhole tournament this weekend. You’ll probably toss your Beer Belly Bags® right in the hole. The other players think they are confident, but their throws are weak, they don’t even make it to the board.”

Four bagger, lipper, cornado — know these words? If yes, you’ve probably thrown your fair share of bags. If not, no worries. You’re not in the know yet, but we’ll get you up to speed on the latest cornhole lingo for next time you’re face to face with another cornholer or tuning into the latest ACL show down.

TOP CORNHOLE SLANG: WORDS AND PHRASES

AIRMAIL: Swish! Nothing but net. Hole-in-one. Get the picture? An air mail is when a player tosses a bag straight into the hole, without touching the cornhole board. Airmail can be synonymous with swish, glory hole, nothing but hole, or crowd pleaser.

BLOCKER: D?! D?! Cornhole is a game of strategy, and so we present: the blocker. A blocker is a bag that lands on the board strategically placed directly in front of the hole, thus blocking your opponents bags from sliding in.

CORNADO: You’re on a roll, Cornado! Cornado is the name for the player with the highest score (and climbing).

CORNAMENT: We’ll keep this one simple. Cornhole. Tournament. Cornament.

CORNFUSION: Adding a new language to your vocabulary, are you cornfused yet? Well this one is close, but not so cut and dry. When two players or teams disagree on the current score or a call – it’s a cornfusion.

CORNHOLE: Synonymous with drain O, as a verb – cornholes are when you get your bag into the hole, scoring three points.

CORNHOLER: You. Yes, you. You are a cornholer. One who plays cornhole frequently – and loves it.

DIRT BAG OR DIRTY BAG: Contrary to what you may think, this is not what you call your arch nemesis, or your daughter’s boyfriend. A dirty bag is a bag that touches the ground either before or after hitting the board and remains there. Worth no points, also called a stanker.

FOUR BAGGER: Four cornholes (or drain O’s) in one turn. This one is a doozy, mostly because it has a lot of synonyms: the great cornholio, cornzizzle, cornzilla, double deuce, grand bag, gusher, Jumanji, 12-pack, golden sombrero…phew.

HANGER: Also known as a lipper, a dingleberry, and some other choice terms – sometimes your cornhole bag doesn’t quite hit the cornhole. In this case, when a cornhole bag lands on the board, partially dangling in the hole, but doesn’t fall in – it’s a hanger.

LEPRECHAUN: Picture this: all four of your cornhole bags land on the board – you lucky leprechaun. Also known as four leaf clover or corn on the cob.

PUSH BAG: Another strategic move, when a bag either pushes or pulls two or more bags right into the hole.

SALLY: A weak toss. Also known as candy corn, short toss, weak sauce. Nothing you have to worry about if you’re throwing Beer Belly Bags.

WOODY: A cornhole bag that lands on the board, worth one point.
