How to Install Cornhole Wraps (and Why)

Posted by Beer Belly Bags on 23rd May 2021

Nothing is a cornhole game changer like a fresh new set of premium bags. Coming in a close second, though, is a sick set of cornhole boards, designed to reflect your personality without compromising your signature slider.

If you’re considering a cornhole board wrap, skin, or decal (or even if you don’t know you need one yet) – there are a couple key things to look for.

Without question, the best thing about a cornhole board wrap is the fresh new look it brings to your boards. Wraps and skins are a perfect consideration in two primary scenarios:

You have an old, dingy, scuffed and weathered set of boards that could probably double as firewood, but you’re willing to give it a face lift.

You have a brand spankin’ new set of cornhole boards, that still reek of the intoxicating smell of fresh 2x4s – but are so plain, they could use a little personality.

You’re in the market for a set of cornhole board skins – so what next?

CHOOSING YOUR CORNHOLE WRAPS

So, your game needs an upgrade, which begs the question – how do I pick the best cornhole board wraps to match my style, without breaking the bank and being near impossible to install? You have options – cornhole board wraps, aka cornhole board skins, come in variety of shapes and materials.

Any good wrap should fit the regulation, approved board size of 48”x24” – that’s a given. From there, you can choose from vinyl wraps, cornhole decals and stickers, or our preference – thicker, easier to use PETG material.

THE BEER BELLY BAGS® DIFFERENCE

Here’s where things really get interesting. On average, the vast majority cornhole board wraps and decals on the market today are made with adhesive backed vinyl – and require at least six tools (from squeegee to heat gun to poly finish),and will take at least several hours from start to finish, installation to ready to play.

We’ve realized that, while we love a good project, we’d rather spend our time actually playing cornhole with a cold beer in hand, rather than yielding heat guns and wrestling with air bubbles.

With that Beer Belly Bags cornhole board wraps were born. Here’s how they’re different.

They’re made with high quality matte 0.20 PETG. Roughly translated, it’s thick material, as opposed to paper-thin vinyl. Which means two things…

It’s extremely easy to apply – with installation, start to finish, ready to play in less than 5 minutes (we’ve seen it happen as fast as 60 seconds). Plus, there is almost no room for error – no worries about cutting out holes, squeegeeing out bubbles, breaking out the heat gun, or messing around with poly finish.

Clocking in at 3x thicker than any other wraps, skins, or decals on the market, the durability is unmatched – holding up to the elements, rain or heat, and significant wear and tear.

CORNHOLE BOARD WRAP INSTALLATION

STEP-BY-STEP

Set your timer, because in 5 minutes or less:

  1. Wipe off any dust or dirt.
  2. Peel back the backing on one corner of your Beer Bell Bags wrap – just a touch.
  3. Line your wrap up with that corner of the board, push down so just that peeled corner sticks.
  4. Slowly peel back the rest of the backing and allow the wrap to naturally lay on the board – while making sure the sides line up. Imagine: The same technique you’d use applying a screen protector to your phone.
  5. Press down across the top of the board to make sure it sticks.
  6. Play!

WILL MY WRAPS STAND THE TEST OF TIME?

Yes, the matte 0.20 PETG is made with UV resistant ink and layered with a permanent acrylic adhesive to withstand game after game, indoors or out. While other cornhole wraps can peel overtime as the varnish top coat wears away, Beer Belly bags skins aren’t going anywhere.

Unless that is, you want them to. In the event that you decide you want to take your Beer Belly Bags wraps off, or swap them with another design, they can easily be removed with acetone and will leave no damage or residue on your cornhole boards.

HOW DOES IT AFFECT PLAY?

According to some other’s out there: “Here’s the ugly part about cornhole wraps. Now that we’ve discussed how awesome the graphics can be and how to apply your wrap, we need to talk about how your gameplay may be affected.

If you are a competitive player, what I’m about to tell you will drive you crazy: The worst part about a cornhole board wrap is the inconsistent playing surface it will give you.”

While this may be the case if you’re grabbing your skins, wraps, or decals from any average Joe, it certainly couldn’t be more false with your Beer Belly Bags wrap. Our exclusive material and error-free process gives you an even, consistent play field no matter the weather, your surroundings, or nearly any other external factor – so you can focus on one thing and one thing only – sinking that perfect airmail.
